An exciting new addition at FTCC is the Collision Repair and Renishing Technology program which operates inside its own freestanding building located at the Military Business Park. e building features state-of-the-art equipment and technology made possible to a large extent by industry partners who strongly share FTCCs vision of a successful program to provide highly skilled and trained graduates with layers of specialty certications to meet changing post-collision industry demands. e program began in August 2014, and the rst class will graduate in May 2016. Even before graduation, 67 percent of currently enrolled students have already been extended full-time employment opportunities immediately upon graduation within this high-demand eld. An important goal at FTCC is to continually seek creative ways to better serve our students. Over the past year, FTCC expanded the Student Learning Center by oering face-to-face and online tutoring appointments for pre-curriculum and curriculum students. e Student Learning Center also expanded with the creation of three new specialized learning labs (math, writing, and science). Over the past year, the Paul H. ompson Library experienced an increase in attendance as a result of changes implemented to better serve our students, and database searches at the library increased over the past year from over 47 million to over 82 million FTCCs High School Connections program helps high school students obtain tuition-free college credits. rough High School Connections, high school students are able to advance their college educational aspirations even before graduation from high school by taking courses at FTCC in pathways leading to either college transfer or career and technical education. High school students who participate in High School Connections learn early on how choosing FTCC is indeed the smart choice for education. FTCC lives the spirit of a military-friendly environment by oering personal, one-on-one attention to military and veteran students and their family members in recognition of their unique situations and as a way to honor them for their service and sacrices for others. e Fort Bragg Center and the All American Veterans Center are staed by professionals who understand the experiences faced by the military and veteran population. FTCCs Continuing Education area also oers various classes in support of the needs of military students, in addition to GED, adult high school, and a broad range of special-interest classes oered at convenient times and locations. e privilege to serve students and our community is an opportunity we embrace. Williford Dear Friend of FTCC, Excitement abounds at Fayetteville Technical Community College Perhaps what surpasses all excitement, however, is seeing how the many opportunities available at FTCC can transform into positive, life-changing experiences. For the young high school graduate, FTCC oers outstanding programs of study with aordable tuition to facilitate entrance into the workforce or to a four-year college/university. For the displaced worker or member of the workforce who needs to acquire new job skills or improve existing ones, FTCC oers courses in both academic college-transfer and non-credit-transfer programs of study. FTCC even oers associate degree programs based on military occupational specialty where soldiers prior military training and experience apply toward academic credit. Many programs are 100 percent online, adding to the convenient, exible options available to students. With more than 200 programs of study to choose from—plus a wide range of Adult High School and Continuing Education courses, FTCC oers students a broad selection of choice in the areas of business, engineering, public service, applied technology, and health services. e college transfer programs allow students to seamlessly transfer their associate degrees to a four-year college, receive a great educational foundation at FTCC, and save money on tuition through the process. An added bonus is that FTCC transfer students perform well in the four-year college environment, many times excelling among their peers. FTCC truly is the smart choice for education. A New Program for an Industry in Need To address a decade-old skills gap in the collision repair industry, FTCC envisioned and implemented a brand new program designed to develop qualied graduates. e stackable industry-recognized certications and technical skills acquired during the two-year Collision Repair and Renishing Technology Associate Degree program make each graduate immediately valuable to employers and oer students immense opportunities.» COLLISION REPAIR & REFINISHING TECHNOLOGY « "FTCC's collision remanufacture program is the only school of its kind. Outcomes for Program Graduates Students work exclusively on late-model vehicles using the latest equipment and technology, developing both theoretical and hands-on technical skills. Graduates receive an Associate Degree in Applied Science, a North Carolina insurance adjuster license, and a lengthy list of professional certications from various manufacturers, the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR), and Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). 2014 – 2015 Annual Report 56 Fayetteville Technical Community College » COLLEGE NEWS & UPDATES « FTCC Designated as 2015 STEM Jobs Approved College Fayetteville Technical Community College was one of three colleges in North Carolina on the inaugural 2015 STEM Jobs Approved Colleges' list as the rst of its kind to rate universities, colleges, community colleges and trade schools on its responsiveness and relevance to high-demand, high-growth STEM occupations. e key indicators of success included STEM job alignment, STEM job placement, and diversity in a school's STEM programs. 2014 – 2015 Annual Report 7 » COLLEGE NEWS & UPDATES « Career and Trades Day Career and Technical Education at FTCC hosted the rst ever Career and Trades Day on April 16, 2015. e event included displays, demonstrations, and hands- on activities from a variety of careers and trades in an eort to engage Cumberland County high school students and present potential career options. In total, over 600 high school students attended and more than 70 vendors, agencies and programs were represented. 3D Printing Competition FTCC partnered with the University of North Carolina, US Army Research Oªce, US Army Special Operations Command, the North Carolina Military Business Center, Practical Scientic Solutions, and 3DSystems to host a 3D Printing/Additive Manufacturing (AM) Competition at FTCCs Spring Lake Campus. Teams comprised of military personnel from USASOC at Fort Bragg and students from UNC and FTCC designed concepts and built prototypes for military applications. Student Learning Center e Student Learning Center implemented major changes in the last year resulting in record attendance. By creating an open, more welcoming environment and adding new specialized learning labs, the Center's attendance increased by more than 125% e new Math Lab, Writing and Communication Center, and Science Lab are just the beginning in a series of planned additions designed to help FTCC students succeed. Scholarship Portal In an eort to streamline the process for applying for scholarships, a new online scholarship portal was created at faytechcc.academicworks.com which allows FTCC students to easily browse available scholarships, view requirements, and apply online.Next >
